Glenn Kleiman moved to NC State University in July, 2007, to become the Executive Director of the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. From 1985-2007, he was Vice President and Senior Research Scientist at Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), where he directed the Center for Online Professional Education and the Regional Education Lab. A cognitive psychologist by background, his work in education has including basic research, curriculum development, software development, providing professional development for teachers and administrators, and consulting for school districts and state departments of education. He has previously been on the faculties in psychology and in education at the University of Illinois and the University of Toronto, and he was educational chair of the Leadership and the New Technologies Institute, held each summer at Harvard from 1997-2001. He was a senior researcher at the National Center for the Study of Reading and the founder and president of Teaching Tools Software. His work at EDC includes projects in mathematics education, a national program that enables school districts to provide effective web-based professional development, and the Northeast and the Islands Regional Technology in Education Consortium (RTEC), which provides technical assistance on the effective uses of educational technology to states and schools districts.
